Adulthood showed greater variations in the ratios theta/beta and theta/alpha that were lower in the younger ones. The higher theta/beta ratio was a sign of a positive relationship with adult ADHD.

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research confirmed the findings of the study. However more research is needed to understand the evolution patterns of these biomarkers as well as determine their diagnostic specificity.

ADHD is a delay or omission in the development of neural system. Some of the contributing factors to the clinical phenotypic presentation of ADHD are genetic, non-genetic, as well as environmental. Whether or not these factors contribute to the clinical dominant outcome of ADHD is not clear.
