By double-clicking these controls, you can skip tracks or replay the previous one. You can also make use of voice commands to instruct them to change modes or set alarms. You can also cover the right ear cup with your fingers to activate ambient modes to allow you to hear everything around you without removing the headphones.
The battery life on these headphones is excellent as well. In our tests with ANC turned on, the Q30 ran for almost an hour longer than its competitors. This leaves plenty of time to prepare for long flights or an office day. The USB-C cord included in the kit allows you to quickly charge them. You'll also receive an alert when your battery is about to run out.

Focal's Bathys Wireless headphone Bluetooth is a pair of high-quality over-ear Bluetooth headphones that offers both active noise cancellation as well as Bluetooth playback. You can also choose the ANC level and mode and set an 'acoustic environments that adjusts the sensitivity in order to simulate the sound of the headphones in a different room.
The Focal Bathys have an incredibly bass-rich sound that adds more energy, impact and warmth to your favourite tracks. Sony has a stellar reputation for its headphones, and the WH-1000XM5 is not an exception. It is a top pick in the'mainstream' over ear headphone market and is in the 'luxury' lifestyle area where brands like Apple, Montblanc, Bang & Olufsen and Montblanc are situated. This means the XM5s have a premium cost, but when you can afford it, there are more superior wireless over-ear headphones out there.
The XM5s have features to simplify the lives of listeners and, in some instances, automate tasks they'd otherwise have to handle manually. Sony's DSEE Extreme Engine (which upscales music to near-high-resolution) and Bluetooth's LDAC Technology, are both included. This allows for streaming of high-quality audio at bitrates higher than conventional Bluetooth. There's a built-in mic for making hands-free phone calls.
Like the previous generation of WH headphones the XM5s excel in noise cancellation. They're among the best-performing cans to block out the continuous drones that can be heard in train and underground carriages. The XM5s are also great at separating listeners from the noises of busy streets and airports.
Sound quality is also excellent. The XM5s aren't quite as precise in the lower frequencies as the XM4, however, they have a higher level of clarity and openness as well. For example the bass work on Rage Against The Machine's Bullet in the Head flexes the Sonys muscles with real power and definition without flattening the other elements. In the same way, Massive Attack's grooving Angel shows off the XM5s' ability to deliver precise and precise bass notes.
Battery life is great, with up to 30 hours of listening time when ANC is on and up to 40 hours when it's off. This is more than enough to last for an entire weekend or a few days' heavy use.
The XM5s do not come with water resistant or dust resistant. Sony recommends not sweating on them or wearing them in the rain. This may not be a major issue for the majority of people however, for those who spend much time in the gym or live in a rainy region this could be a major problem.
Apple AirPods Max
The Apple AirPods Max are a pair of wireless headphones that fit over the ear with Bluetooth technology and noise cancelling. Apple created dynamic drivers that measure 40mm with a neutral audio profile that focuses on mids and highs without going too loud. They are great for music and movies. They also provide superior fidelity when compared to other headphones.
The headphones have a lightweight design that is comfortable on the head. The earcups, which are made of memory foam covered with woven fabric, sit comfortably over the ears they do not place pressure on the sides or forehead. The ear cups can also be flipped and rotated to accommodate different head shapes. The hinges that are spring loaded have a solid but not overly powerful clamping force, which ensures that the ear cups stay in place during listening sessions.
Switch on noise cancellation by pressing a small button located at the top of the right earcup. It also has a pushable jog dial-like button like the digital Crown on the Apple Watch. You can twist it for volume control, and press it once three, twice, or times to playback the controls. Siri is activated by pressing and holding the button. The buttons are well-placed and simple to use, however I missed having the power button that could turn the headphones off when not in use. The headphones automatically switch to standby mode when they are removed from your ears or placed in their case, and they only come back on when you slide them over your head once more.
Spatial audio is another cool feature. It utilizes accelerometers, gyroscopes, and iPhones or iPads to determine where you are moving. Then, it repositions the sound to make it appear to originate from that particular location. This creates a cinema-like experience for films and videos recorded in 5.1, 7.1 or Dolby Atmos. Only iOS devices can be used to listen to the spatial audio.
The AirPods Max is a decent pair, but I would be a bit disappointed for spending $549 at an Apple Store knowing that the second-generation model would be better after a year. The AirPods Pro have more advanced features and improved battery performance, making it hard to justify the extra cost for the majority of people.
